STANLEY

💋

Today is your birthday. Today 21 May 2024 and I want to dedicate this blogpost to you today.
You have been my one true love, my life long companion, my husband for almost forty years now and the father of my children.  I owe it to you.  I owe to bestow honour on you because you are the greatest person I have ever had the good fortune to meet and to share a life with.

I remember when I first saw you.  I was coming up the stairs and you and Louis Delport were coming down the stairs.  It was lunch time.

I was and Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Department of the Department of Community Affairs and you were appointed also as an Administrative Assistant in the same Department.  You had a huge head of curly, dark brown hair and it reached out around your head just like a "halo".

I was often assigned as the Personal Assistant of Mr. Fouche, the Director of the Department, when he was in Pretoria.  I remember that you often came looking for me.  We were friends you and me from the start.  From the moment we first set eyes on each other we were each others best friends!  How we laughed, made plans, joked, loved life!

I remember the Italian restaurant round the corner, do you remember it?  Do you remember the wonderful food?  Do you remember the big juicy meat patties, the rich with thick brown gravy liver and mash potatoes?

Do you remember us walking past the statue of Paul Kruger on church plain in Pretoria, and do you remember when you said to me; "Everything is going to be alright.  I tell you today that we will be sitting together, on the beach in the sun one day!".  I loved that about you.  I loved that you were never scared of adventures.  We had lots of adventures and I thank you for that.  Some were difficult like our adventure to immigrate to New Zealand but we were always together.  You were always there.  You never flinched!  You just took it in your stride ... one step after the other!

Stanley you are a great man ... you are my best friend!
