Paxton a place of peace: I am the second eldest of four children, and I was born at 9;00 o’clock in the morning on my mother’s double bed, on our family farm “Witpoort” 15 miles from Dullstroom in the Republic of South Africa. We lived in the same house with my grandfather and grandmother and ours was a multi-generational Christian home. My father Arnold Tielman Petrus du Toit was an only child and born after the devastation of the Boer War. I write because with every story I want to remember – the past, the joy and the extraordinary childhood of growing up on a farm in Africa. With my writing I want to honour my Christian upbringing and my living faith in God.
