PAXTON A PLACE OF PEACE

I had a dream about the name. I heard the name in my sleep and I heard it over and over and the next morning when I woke up that was the first thing I did. Wrote it down on a piece of paper and the second thing I did was ... to look up the meaning of this word. "Pax" is Latin for peace and "ton" is the Middle and Old English word for town. So there it was.  This little slice of paradise will be Paxton. A place of peace. A town of peace.

As an immigrant, living in my adopted country it was extremely difficult to save enough money in order to purchase a property.  I remember sitting in front of my laptop over weekends and scouring the internet and property sites trying to find something that we could afford.  It took us eleven years, lots of blood sweat and tears and also consistent prayer to finally be able to buy our one hundred and twenty year old cottage here in the Wairarapa. Fourteen families lived here before us.  Worker families just like we are ... families, mothers and fathers trying to eek out a living in a good place.  A place of peace!

Our vision is to work the land with our hands.  To grow fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds to feed ourselves and our animals.  To work with nature as it has always been intended to use.  To cut out the noise in our heads and in our hearts. to let the peace of this place soak and infiltrate deep into us and to heal us from the trauma suffered over years of feeding from the tube and to make this experience available for others who may be yearning for ... Peace!
